The Art of Racing In The Rain – By Garth Stein – 5 out of 5 Blessed So and So Smiles
And the list goes on…………
I’m still working on my list – I have a back log of reviews – I could bore you all for a week or two every day – I won’t I promise.
I’ve said it before but I’m so thankful for my reading list. I don’t care how long it takes me to complete it; in fact I think I will be a bit sad when I’m done. I’m reading books I know I would have never picked up. The Art of Racing in the Rain, By Garth Stein, is one of those books.
Here is a quote from the book jacket; “A heart-wrenching but deeply funny and ultimately uplifting story of family, love, loyalty and hope, The Art of Racing in the Rain is a beautifully crafted and captivating look at the wonders of human life….as only a dog could see it.”
Yep this book is told 100% from the perspective of Enzo the dog. I am a dog person, big time, but I would not have given a book “written by a dog” a shot. I just thought it sounded lame.
I was wrong!!! This book is not only entertaining it addresses some big issues and is loaded with advice about living a really great life.
There is a bunch thrown in about reincarnation which I don’t personally believe, it is not the entire theme of the book and for me I could easily take the principals written and apply it to my belief of an afterlife – the soul out of the earth body and into the presence of The Lord.
I highly recommend this book, it is easy to read and very though provoking. As a side note if you have a dog it will really get you pondering what they are thinking about……….
